The moment I found out I was sectioning hair totally backward

I've been doing foils for 8 years. Always started at the nape and worked up. Last week a client said her roots looked patchy at the crown. I redid the section and started from the top down. Game changer. No more oversaturated ends near the face. Has anyone else had a basic technique flip on them like this?

Wait, you mean I've been doing it wrong for years and a client finally called me out on it?

Own it quick and apologize upfront. I had a customer call me out on a bad measurement once and I just said "yep, you're right, my mistake" and fixed it on the spot. They respected me more for admitting it than if I'd tried to argue. Most people just want to feel heard and know you'll make it right. That client ended up referring me to two neighbors later.
