Rant: My favorite shears snapped mid-cut on a client yesterday

I was doing a blunt trim on Mrs. Henderson around 2pm when my 7 inch shears just broke right at the pivot. The blade flew off and landed on the floor. I had to finish her cut with my backup pair that aren't as sharp. Has anyone else had a pair of shears fail like that out of nowhere? I've had these for about 4 years and I'm wondering if it's worth getting them fixed or just buying new ones.

I mean yeah, that happened to me a couple years ago with a pair of Hikaris I'd had for about 3 years. The tension screw just gave out mid-cut and the blade flew across the salon floor. I'd say at 4 years, unless they were really high end shears, it's probably not worth fixing. Most repair shops charge like 40-60 bucks just to look at them, and that's almost half the cost of a decent new pair from somewhere like Sharkfin or Kasho. I'd just bite the bullet and get a new pair honestly.

I got a few extra years out of a pair of Matsuzakis by just replacing the tension screw myself, it was like 8 bucks online and took ten minutes... but if the blades are shot or they're loose, yeah, I'd just grab a new pair.
