PSA: A client's stubborn cowlick finally gave up after I tried something my grandma said
I have this regular in the chair who has a cowlick on her crown that just would not stay put, no matter what product or technique I used. Out of desperation, I remembered my grandma telling me to 'set the hair in the opposite direction while it's still damp from the spray bottle'. I sectioned that area, misted it, and pinned it flat against her head in the opposite direction for a full ten minutes under the dryer while I worked on her ends. When I took the pin out and styled it, it actually laid down perfectly for the first time. Has anyone else found an old-school trick that actually solves a modern styling headache?

Oh man, that's so true. It's like how my mom still swears by using vinegar to clean pretty much everything. I tried it on my shower glass last week and it actually worked better than the fancy spray I bought.

Reminds me how often the simplest fixes get lost. We're always looking for some new product or fancy tool to solve problems, but the best answers are usually hiding in plain sight. My dad still fixes squeaky doors with a bar of soap instead of WD-40, and it works every time. Makes you wonder what other basic knowledge we've traded for convenience.

@laurabennett totally agree with you on the vinegar - I use it on my windows with newspaper and it leaves zero streaks, way better than any glass cleaner I've bought. What's the silliest old school trick you still swear by?
