One bad perm appointment that threw my whole week off
Had a client come in Monday with hair she'd box-dyed black twice. I told her we'd need two sessions to lift it safely but she insisted we try it all in one go. Spent 4 hours on the rods and neutralizer, and by the time we rinsed, her ends were gummy and breaking off. She was cool about it but I felt awful, and it messed with my confidence for the next two days. Has anyone else had a client push back on the timeline and then had to deal with the damage control?
Watched the same thing play out at my barber last month, guy wanted a full color correction in one sitting because he had a wedding that weekend. My guy held his ground and lost the client, but her hair stayed on her head. That's the part nobody talks about, we get trained to say yes because saying no feels like bad service, but the salon down the street that always caves is the one with the worst reviews six months later. It's the same deal with mechanics and tattoo artists, the rush jobs are the ones that come back to bite everyone.
