My new shampoo bar melted into a puddle on day 3

I bought this fancy solid shampoo bar from a booth at a craft fair in Portland last weekend (you know, the kind with all natural ingredients). I was so excited to try it, but after just three days sitting on my bathroom counter it turned into a goopy mess. I thought solid bars were supposed to last forever, but maybe my bathroom is too humid? I even kept it in a soap dish with drainage holes. Has anyone else had this problem with shampoo bars or am I just doing it wrong somehow?

Oh man, that is rough. Just a heads up, if the bar had any butters or oils that melt at lower temps your bathroom might be the culprit even with a draining dish. I actually had a similar thing happen with a handmade lotion bar from a local shop - it literally turned to soup on my counter after a hot shower. The person who made it told me those natural bars are super sensitive to temperature swings, especially if they use coconut oil which melts around 76 degrees. So maybe check the ingredients list and see if it's got a low melting point fat in there. Also, are you sure the dish had enough airflow? Some of those fancy "drainage" dishes still trap moisture underneath if the slots are too small or the bar sits flat. I'd try putting it on a wire rack for a day and see if that saves it before you give up on the whole idea.

Did you even let it dry out between uses though?
