Just had a client reaction to a new color line that cost me $200
Honestly, I bought into the hype for the ChromaGlaze permanent color system after seeing it everywhere online. Spent about $200 on their starter kit for the salon. The color payoff was weak on resistant gray and it faded so fast, a client came back upset after just two washes. Has anyone found a good permanent color that actually holds up on tough hair?

My cousin runs a small salon and she had the same exact problem with that brand last year. She said the formula just sits on top of the hair instead of really getting in there. What did you end up telling your client to make it right?

I used to think it was just bad luck, but three failed appointments changed my mind.

That point from @dylan413 about the formula just sitting on top is so key, it explains the weak gray coverage and the fast fade completely. It's not a color problem, it's a chemistry problem where the product just can't open the cuticle enough on resistant hair. For the client, I had to offer a full corrective service with a different line I trust, which meant eating that cost. Makes you wonder if these trendy brands even test on real-world gray hair before all the marketing. Have you found a system that actually gets the chemistry right for tough cases?
