Just found a way to save a client's hair after a bad bleach job
A client came in yesterday with orange, patchy hair from a box bleach she did at home. I was ready to suggest a full color correction, which would have been over $200 and taken hours. Instead, I mixed a demi-permanent color one shade darker than her goal with a ton of conditioner and applied it for only 15 minutes. It evened everything out perfectly and saved her hair from more damage. Has anyone else used a demi this way to fix a botched lightening job?

Honestly, how often do you get to skip a full correction? That's a solid save right there. Tbh a demi with conditioner is my go-to for fixing banding too. It deposits just enough color without making more damage. You basically did a mini gloss that fixed the tone. Really smart move to keep it off the scalp for such a short time.

Yeah, @sean_hunt61 is right about it being a mini gloss. I've found that using a demi with a 10 volume developer, instead of just conditioner, gives you a bit more control over the deposit if the banding is a little more stubborn. It still avoids lifting and keeps the damage low.

Fixing banding with a demi and conditioner" is exactly what my friend Jen did last month... she had this weird orange line from a box dye mishap and mixed a level 6 ash demi straight into her conditioner. Worked like a charm and @tessacarter is right about the 10 volume giving more control if it's stubborn. She left it on the mids for like 8 minutes and rinsed, totally saved her from a full bleach and tone situation.
