I think everyone is overcomplicating the bleach bath for stubborn color.
I had a client with dark box dye that just WOULD NOT lift evenly, even with a 30 vol developer. I was about to do a full color correction, but I tried a 1:1:1 mix of 20 vol, shampoo, and a cheap clarifying conditioner instead of the usual fancy formulas. It lifted perfectly in 15 minutes with way less damage. Everyone says you need the expensive stuff, but this saved me 2 hours. Has anyone else tried a simple mix like this on resistant color?

Honestly, my first bleach bath was a total kitchen science experiment.

How many times have we all been told the expensive product is the only way? I felt that, @stella307, my first try was pure panic mixing. It's such a relief when the simple stuff just works and saves your client's hair.

Swapped out the fancy conditioning treatment for a cheap grocery store conditioner once and it worked just as good on stubborn roots. Saved the client's hair from frying and I didn't have to run out for more supplies halfway through. Sometimes the simple stuff really does have your back when you least expect it.
