I finally gave in and tried a cold water rinse for color-treated hair
For years, I thought telling clients to rinse with cold water was just an old wives' tale. Then a client with bright red hair came in after a month and her color was still super vibrant. She said she'd been doing a cold rinse for the last 30 seconds every shower. I tried it myself on my own highlights, and after two weeks, I noticed way less fading. Has anyone else seen a real difference with this, or is it just luck?

Honestly, same story here with my blue hair. Switched to a cold blast at the end and it made a huge difference in slowing down that greenish fade. It's a pain in winter, but my color definitely lasts a solid week or two longer now.

Honestly, that could just be a coincidence with the dye batch or her water quality. @rayc38 seeing a difference with blue makes sense, but for a lot of colors, heat is what seals the cuticle, so a lukewarm finish might be better than a shock of cold. My own color fades at the same rate no matter what water I use, so maybe it just depends on your hair type.
