Hot take: I used to think those cheap $20 shears from the beauty supply were fine, but after trying my coworker's proper Japanese steel ones for a single cut, I felt like I'd been sawing through hair my whole career.

The glide was so smooth and the precision was unreal, so has anyone found a good mid-range brand that doesn't cost a full week's pay?

My old shears felt like garden clippers after that.

Oh man, that reminds me of when @blair_green86 let me try her good shears on a mannequin... it was a total game changer. I still can't afford the fancy ones, but it definitely ruined my old pair for me. Now every snip just feels wrong.

Ugh, don't even get me started. It's like @gavin_allen48 said, once you try the good stuff you can't go back. My old shears now feel like I'm trying to cut hair with a butter knife. I'm stuck in this awful middle ground where I know what good is but my wallet says no. Isn't it just the worst when you know exactly what you're missing?
