Hot take: I did 47 haircuts in one week at my chair in Columbus and I don't think it made me a better stylist
So the week before Mother's Day I booked 47 cuts in 5 days, which is way more than my normal 25 to 30. I thought grinding like that would sharpen my skills and prove something to myself. By Wednesday my wrists ached and I caught myself rushing the blowouts. Thursday I nicked my index finger on the shears because my hands were tired and shaky. The weird part is my tips that week were actually lower per client, because I had no time to chat or upsell a treatment. My regulars said I seemed off, and one lady asked if I was sick. A stylist down the street from me in the Short North swears the high volume life is the only way to make real money. I think there's a sweet spot and 47 is way past it. Where do you all draw the line on daily clients before the work starts to slide?
