Found out at a Columbus trade show that 60% of my color clients are actually covering gray, not going lighter
I sat in on a color class at the Midwest show in Columbus last month and the instructor threw out a stat that stuck with me: most clients over 35 asking for blonde are really just trying to hide gray. I went back and counted my own book, and 11 of my 18 regulars are exactly that. I had been pitching them fashion tones and balayage when they just wanted solid coverage that lasts. Now I'm not sure how to bring it up without making them feel old. How do you all figure out what a client actually wants before you mix the bowl?
