Finally got my hands on a proper color fan deck after using swatch books for years.
I was matching a client's faded red to her old photos, and the swatches were just not close enough, so I invested in a full deck. The difference in finding the right tone was immediate, and the whole color correction took half the time it normally would. For those who made the switch, which brand's deck do you find has the most accurate reds and coppers?

Wait, you were matching reds from old photos with just swatch books? How did you even get close? I tried that once and the metamerism under different lights made the color totally wrong. A full deck is the only way to see the full shift in tone. For reds and coppers, I've found the older formulations from one brand tend to fade true, but their newer decks have a wider gamut. It's a trade-off between historical accuracy and what's on the shelf now.

So you're saying I need a full deck now, @casey_barnes?

Honestly switching to the full deck was a game changer for me too, those copper tones finally matched right.
