Am I the only one who switched from foam highlights to balayage and got way better results?

I did my first full balayage on a client last week after doing foils for 3 years and the color blended so much smoother with zero banding. Has anyone else made the switch and stuck with it?

Wait, only one balayage and you're already calling it better? I switched back to foils twice before balayage actually clicked for me. First time I got these weird hot roots that looked worse than any banding I ever had. Clients don't care about your technique, they just want their hair to look good when they leave. Give it a few months and ten more clients before you crown it the winner.

That hot root thing happened to me too on my first balayage actually, @miller.jason! I had to fix it with a root smudge on my second session. But for me the grow out on foils always looked so harsh, like a solid line across my head. Balayage might take a few tries for us to nail, but the soft regrowth is worth the learning curve for me.
