A client in Phoenix taught me a huge lesson about curly hair
I was doing a standard blowout on a client with 3C curls, and she gently stopped me to explain her routine. She said, 'My hair needs the moisture before any heat touches it,' and showed me her leave-in spray. I've completely changed my consultation process to ask about moisture levels first. Anyone have a favorite product for that initial hydration step?

You call that an overreaction?

Overcomplicating the routine just adds more steps and products. Most hair types do fine with a basic heat protectant spray before styling. Changing your whole process for one client seems like an overreaction.

Right? Why do people act like you need a ten-step ritual just to use a flat iron? I had a client last month who insisted on some crazy serum-blowdry-cream routine before any heat, and her hair looked exactly the same as when I just used my usual protectant spray. Total waste of time.
