3 years ago I could barely do a basic bob cut, now I finally nailed a complex layered shag on a client last Tuesday

She came in with a picture from Pinterest and I was nervous, but after taking it slow with the sectioning and point cutting it actually turned out exactly like the photo. Any other stylists here feel like certain haircuts just click after years of practice?

I used to be the same way about Pinterest photos. The lighting and styling really does make a difference, but with this one I was surprised how much it came down to the sectioning. @victorcoleman I parted off smaller sections than usual, like half inch subsections, and used a lot more tension release than I normally would with a bob. That let the layers cascade instead of just stacking up. It took forever but it proved to me that careful sectioning is the real secret, not just the angle of the photo.

Exactly like the photo" sounds like a stretch but okay.

Wait @victorcoleman have you actually tried recreating a Pinterest photo before? I feel like matching it spot on is more about the angle you shoot the after pic than the cut itself. What did you do different with your sectioning compared to a basic bob that made the layers fall right?
