I swore off quick couplers on our skid steer until a muddy job in Fresno changed my mind
For years I was the guy who wanted everything hard plumbed on the skid steer. Quick couplers leaked, they got dirt in them, and I figured they were a shortcut for people who didn't want to do it right. Then two weeks ago we were doing a cleanup job near Fresno and the ground was so wet the machine was sinking every pass. My operator needed to swap the bucket for forks and back again maybe six times in one afternoon, and what would have been a 40 minute wrestle with wrenches turned into maybe 5 minutes of clicking hoses on and off. I sat there in the truck with muddy boots and admitted I had been wrong for a long time. The part that got me was when he radioed asking why we didn't have these on the mini excavator too. So now I'm pricing a set for the excavator and wondering how far I should go. Do you all put couplers on everything or just the machines you switch attachments on most?
