Appreciation post: my mini excavator's grease fittings actually took grease after I switched how I prep them
I grease my mini excavator every 10 hours of run time, and for the first year or so, half the fittings on the boom and bucket would just sit there and not take anything. I figured the fittings were bad, so I swapped a few out, and that did nothing. A guy at the equipment yard in Modesto asked if I was wiping the fitting tip off before pumping, and I wasn't. Now I hit each fitting with a rag first, push the coupler on straight, and pump slow, and all 14 of them take grease in about 3 minutes. The difference is night and day on how much grease actually gets in there. If you have fittings that fight you, is it usually the coupler tip or the fitting itself that's the problem?
