The bridge in my town looked normal until I zoomed in on old photos
I was comparing Google Maps satellite shots of the Mill Creek bridge from 2019 and 2024. In 2019 the concrete had these thin, even lines, but by 2024 there were three big dark patches near the base that just appeared. No flood or earthquake happened in that window, the county records show no repair work either. It got me thinking about how often we ignore slow changes until someone points them out. Has anyone else spotted similar unexplained shifts in local infrastructure over a few years?

The part about "slow changes until someone points them out" is exactly where I gotta disagree. You're looking at two different photos taken five years apart, probably at different times of day and different seasons. Shadows alone can make concrete look like it has dark patches where there weren't any before. I've done this with my own street's sidewalks, comparing old street view images, and thought a crack was new when it was actually just the sun angle changing. Also, county records don't always catch everything, especially if a utility company did some minor patching without pulling a permit. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think we jump to "unexplained" way too fast when the simplest answer is usually bad photo lighting.
