That old guy at the county fair who changed my whole view on crop circles
Back in 2018 I was at the county fair outside of Wichita, Kansas, and there was this older fella selling handmade wooden signs. I stopped to chat about nothing really, and he pointed at a photo of a crop circle on his booth wall and said, "You know, people think those are just hoaxers with boards, but I watched a drone light show one night and the pattern moved like it was breathing." He told me he'd spent 30 years farming and saw a circle form in his own wheat field after a storm, no tracks leading in or out. He wasn't pushing any wild alien stuff, just said sometimes we dismiss things too fast because they don't fit our toolbox. That conversation stuck with me more than any podcast or YouTube video since. Made me realize a lot of conspiracy talk is just people trying to make sense of what they saw with their own eyes. Has anyone else had a random stranger change how they look at a theory, and did it hold up later?

That line about dismissing things because they don't fit your toolbox hits hard. Had a similar thing with a retired mail carrier in Oklahoma who swore he watched a cattle mutilation happen from his porch, gave me details about the wind and how the cows didn't scatter. I looked into it later and the timeline he gave lined up with a known incident report, which weirded me out. My advice if you get one of these talks is write down the details that same night, names, dates, weather, because the small stuff is what holds up years later when the story is gone from your head.
