Showerthought: I spent years thinking the moon landing was fake because of a bad video I saw in high school

I was deep into that whole thing, you know, pointing at shadows and flags. The thing that got me was last year, my kid's science teacher, Mr. Henderson, had a whole class about the reflectors they left up there. He said any big college with a good laser can bounce a signal off them right now to measure the distance. That's a real thing you can check. It made me stop and think... if it was all a big show, why leave proof anyone could test? I had built my whole view on shaky stuff from a grainy tape. Has anyone else had a single fact just completely flip a long held belief for them?

The Soviet tracking story was what finally got me too.

Wasn't there a story about the Soviets tracking the Apollo missions? I read they had their own gear listening in and even got some moon rocks later to study. If their biggest rivals, who had every reason to call it fake, never disputed it happened, that says a lot.

Wait, did the Soviets get better moon rocks than me, @paige_martin?
