Question about spending $300 on a faraday cage bag for my phone

Everyone told me it was paranoid nonsense, but after my phone rebooted itself twice during a weird outage near a government building last month, I'm starting to think the $300 was worth it for the peace of mind, or am I just seeing patterns where there aren't any?

Ever tried a simple foil pouch first?

Three dry bags in the last two years have ripped at the seam for me. What kind of abuse do you expect a foil pouch to handle without tearing open?

Seems like overkill for most situations. A regular bag works fine for keeping things dry. Not everything needs the fancy gear.

Overkill" is exactly what I thought until my regular bag popped open on a trip and ruined my sleeping bag. That one dry bag mistake cost me way more than fancy gear would have.
