My cousin in Denver got really into the flat earth thing after one YouTube video
We were at a family barbecue last summer and he just would not drop it. He kept saying 'they' hide the truth about Antarctica. I asked him if he'd ever looked through a decent telescope at a boat going over the horizon, and he said that was part of the cover-up. It was wild. How do you even start a real talk with someone once they're that deep in?

Yeah, that's a tough spot. I read something once about how arguing facts just makes people dig in deeper because it feels like an attack. The advice was to ask curious questions, like "What would it take to change your mind on this?" or "How did you first get interested in this idea?" It doesn't always work, but it sometimes opens a door that straight arguing slams shut. At a certain point, you just have to change the subject to keep the peace, especially at a family event.

Consider if it's worth the headache at a family event. He's not hurting anyone with his weird ideas about Antarctica. Just nod and go get another burger.
