My buddy said my 'jet fuel can't melt steel beams' argument was lazy

He pointed out I was just repeating a meme and hadn't looked at the actual NIST report. I read it last month and now I focus on the specific collapse mechanics instead. Anyone else had a go-to theory fall apart when you dug into the primary sources?

What specific part of the report changed your mind?

You said "changed your mind" but that's not quite right. I was always open to the data, I just needed to see it laid out clearly. The part that made it click for me was the breakdown of long term cost versus short term savings. Seeing those numbers side by side showed the full picture I was missing before. It wasn't about flipping a switch in my opinion, it was about getting the complete info. The report just filled in the blanks.

Why does everyone treat this stuff like a final exam? @grantl94, sometimes a report is just a bunch of pages that don't change a thing. People act like reading a document is a huge win, but most of it just confirms what you already guessed.
