Just realized the moon landing tapes debate is really about trust in institutions

I was at a bar in Columbus and this guy at the next table said NASA lost the original footage because they never expected anyone to ask for it 50 years later. That stuck with me. It made me think the whole conspiracy isn't about whether we landed, it's about how comfortable people are with a government that can't keep its own receipts. Has anyone else noticed the argument always circles back to a single missing artifact instead of the actual physical evidence scattered across 5 different labs?

Realized I used to roll my eyes at anyone bringing up the tapes, figured it was just angry people looking for a fight. But hearing that lost receipts angle flipped something for me, cause yeah, it's way less about the moon and way more about how sloppy the whole system can look.
