Just had my first major hack attempt on my home router

I was just sitting in my living room in Phoenix last night when my internet suddenly dropped and my laptop started acting weird. Turned out someone was trying to brute force into my router settings through the default admin login I forgot to change. Has anyone else dealt with a targeted attack on their home network like this?

Used to think those default logins were fine for home networks, not worth changing since who'd bother targeting a regular house? But a buddy in Tucson had his whole network locked with ransomware last year because he never changed his admin password, and after hearing that story I went home and changed everything that night. Your experience just confirms what he went through - these attacks are way more common than people realize. Changed all my router defaults and put in a long passphrase instead, which took maybe 10 minutes.
