I swear the old 7-Eleven coffee tasted way different before 2022

I used to stop at the same 7-Eleven on Main Street in Tulsa every morning for years. Sometime around mid 2022 the coffee started tasting thin and kinda burnt, not like the bold stuff I remembered. I think they switched roasters or changed their brewing timers because even the creamer didn't mix the same. Anybody else notice a shift in their store's coffee around that time?

Hmm I gotta push back on that "thin and kinda burnt" description. I hit the 7-Eleven on 11th Street in Tulsa around the same time and honestly I think the coffee got better after 2022. The old stuff was always too watery for me, like they were watering down the grounds to save money. The new roast is darker and I actually get a caffeine kick from it now. Maybe they switched up the brewing temp but that burnt taste you're talking about might just be the beans being roasted fresh instead of sitting in a bag for months. Guess it depends on what you're used to though.

Could there be a middle ground where they fixed the burnt aftertaste but still kept the stronger caffeine hit?

New roast" - you sure it's not just a different supplier?
