I finally looked at the old photos of my local cell tower from 2018

The pictures I took back then show a basic tower with maybe a dozen antennas. I drove past it again last week and now it's covered in at least forty new, smaller boxes and dishes. This happened over the last six months, and no public notice was given. Has anyone else seen their local towers get a major, quiet upgrade like this?

Saw an article about this last month. They're slapping on extra gear for 5G and to handle all the new data traffic from everyone streaming and working from home. The companies don't have to tell anyone unless they're building a whole new tower. It's all about capacity and they're doing it fast and quiet.

Love how they can upgrade a tower faster than my landlord can fix a leaky faucet.

Reminds me of the weird hum our old streetlight started making after they did that last year.
