I caught a local news station using the same 'new' surveillance drone footage from 2019 twice this month
I was watching the evening report on channel 8 out of Phoenix and noticed the same grainy thermal clip of a 'gang operation' they used last week was actually from a city council hearing video I saw 4 years ago. The guy in the shot is wearing the same jacket and walking the same route, it's not even close to current. How many other stations are just recycling old scare clips to push more funding for police gear?

That pizza stain detail the_michael mentioned actually made me rethink this whole thing. I used to roll my eyes at people who said stations were just recycling old footage to push narratives, but now I see it plain as day. I went back and checked my own local station after reading this and sure enough they used a clip of a "teen curfew bust" from 2021 during a story about this month's city council meeting. Same kid in the same hoodie walking the same corner, just flipped horizontally to fake it. It's lazy and manipulative and honestly kind of scary how they think nobody would notice.

Channel 4 in Tucson did that last month, and I only noticed because the guy had the same pizza stain on his shirt.

That pizza stain detail really got me, @the_michael. I've been guilty of rewearing shirts I shouldn't have on camera during video calls, half hoping nobody would notice. My own Zoom shirt collection is basically three identical shirts I cycle through so nobody catches on to the same wrinkles or coffee drips. I guess we're all just one stain away from being found out.
