Used to argue frame rates on forums for hours, now I just check one site before buying and move on
Back around 2019 I would get into it with strangers over 30fps vs 60fps for hours, sometimes late into the night, and it never changed a single mind. Now I do something way simpler: before I buy any multiplatform game, I check a site like Digital Foundry's breakdown for about 5 minutes and see which console runs it cleanest, then I buy that version. Last month I grabbed a game on PS5 over Xbox just because the analysis showed a steadier frame rate in the opening area, and I have zero regrets. It sounds obvious but it took me a while to stop treating it like picking a side and start treating it like picking a version. My buddy in Cleveland still texts me screenshots of arguments he gets in, and I keep telling him the info is right there, use it and go play. What sites or channels do you all trust for this, and does anyone actually still buy the version their friends are on even if it runs worse?
