Stopped by a retro game shop in Portland and saw something weird

I was up in Portland last weekend and popped into a retro game store on Hawthorne. They had a bin of loose NES cartridges for 2 bucks each, so I started digging. What caught my eye was how many copies of Top Gun there were, like 15 of them stacked together. I grabbed one just to see if the landing sequence was as hard as everyone says. Took me 4 tries to get the plane down on the carrier. Has anyone else noticed random old games showing up in bulk like that?

Did you look inside the cartridge for any hidden mod chips or extra boards?

Hell yes, @park.troy, that's exactly what I was thinking. I cracked open a "rare" copy of Mega Man 5 once and found a whole extra board taped inside with a tiny switch.
