Question about open world fatigue... did BotW actually break me?
I spent years rolling my eyes at anyone who said Breath of the Wild was their favorite game. Thought it was just empty fields with some korok seeds sprinkled around. Then I hit 60 hours in three weeks during a snowstorm in Boston and realized I was the problem. Now every other open world game feels like a checklist of chores. Has anyone else found a game that actually scratched that same itch without feeling like work?

Wait, you mean the game where I spent 45 minutes chasing a single dragon scale isn't peak gameplay for everyone? Look, I get it - after BotW, every other map marker just feels like a boring job application. Like great, here's another "go here, kill this, return" quest that some designer copy-pasted thirty times. The problem is that game ruined me by letting me climb ANYTHING and set things on fire in creative ways. Now I try playing those big AAA open worlds and I'm just sitting there thinking "why can't I cut down this tree and ride it down a mountain?

Man people REALLY overthink video games sometimes, it's just entertainment not a marriage commitment. Maybe take a break if a tree mechanic is causing this much analysis.
