My nephew picked a pink Switch game to beat my Mario Kart record while my brother watched
Over the weekend my 9 year old nephew visited, grabbed my Switch, and beat my best time on Rainbow Road on his third try while I stood there with a slice of pizza. My brother just grinned and said the console doesn't matter, the kid does. Anyone else got a humbling family gaming story to share?
My buddy Dave's 11 year old daughter cleared his whole saved progress in Zelda on a random Tuesday, then handed the controller back and asked what was for dinner. Stuff like that happens in every house I visit where there's a console and a kid. You can spend years learning every shortcut in a game and some kid just picks it up and does it like it's nothing. Kids don't have all the bad habits we built up from years of playing the same way. They just try what feels right and it works. The kid thing is real and it stings every time.
