My brother keeps calling every game a "remake" when it's just a remaster
We were talking about the new Final Fantasy 7 stuff last weekend and he goes "oh yeah the remake is great." I tried to explain the difference between rebuilding a game from scratch vs. just polishing up the old one but he just waved me off. Is it just my family or does this bug anyone else in the group? How do you guys handle explaining the difference without starting a whole argument?

Final Fantasy 7 Remake actually IS a remake though since they rebuilt the whole game from the ground up with new combat and a different story. If your brother was talking about FF7 Remake he's technically right on that one. But I get what you mean, a lot of games like The Last of Us Part 1 or the GTA trilogy get called remakes when they're really just remasters with better textures. Nobody cares about the difference except us nerds though, so I just let people call it whatever and move on.
