Just found out Final Fantasy VII sold more on Xbox than I ever expected
I was digging through some old sales data on VGChartz the other night, just bored and curious. Turns out the original Final Fantasy VII on PlayStation sold around 10 million copies, which everyone knows. But I stumbled on the fact that the Xbox One version of FFVII sold over 2 million units by itself. That blew my mind because I always thought of that game as a PlayStation exclusive, even though it's been on everything for years now. I guess the younger crowd who only had an Xbox got to experience it for the first time on Game Pass or something. Made me realize how much cross-platform gaming has changed things since the 90s. Has anyone else found a stat like that where a game did way better on a rival console than they assumed?

That 'game did way better on a rival console' thing really hits home with FFVII. I think a huge part of it is that younger players just never grew up with the PlayStation brand loyalty, so they see it as another game on Game Pass rather than some sacred exclusive. It makes you wonder how many other old classics are quietly crushing it on platforms nobody expects lmao.

Quietly crushing it" describes my attempts at FFVII too, buddy.
