That $8 bag of fiber mesh I threw in my mix yesterday saved my driveway slab
I was pouring a small walkway in Allentown last week and the temp was dropping faster than I expected. I usually do wire mesh but I grabbed a bag of that cheap fiberglass stuff from Home Depot on a whim and threw it in the mixer. The surface cracked a little during the first freeze but nothing went through deep and the slab held together way better than I thought it would. Has anyone else tried fiber mesh instead of wire for small residential jobs?

It is funny how the cheapest fix can often save you from a bigger headache. That fiber mesh really does take the stress out of temperature swings, it just spreads the load so nothing takes a full hit. Kind of like how I learned to keep a spare tire in my trunk for years before I ever needed it, then the one time I forgot to put it back I got a flat in the middle of nowhere. You pay a little upfront for something that just sits there, but when the bad luck hits you feel like a genius.

Read something similar about packing a winter coat in your car just in case. Simple things.
