Saw a stat that 60% of concrete jobs crack in the first year if you don't wet cure properly

Honestly I've always been lazy about wet curing on smaller jobs, just let it air dry and call it good. But then I read that number on a concrete forum and it makes me wonder if I'm just getting lucky or if that stat is blown out of proportion. Any finishers here actually stick to wet curing every time or do you skip it too?

Isn't it funny how shortcuts seem fine until you actually see the numbers... feels like everything in life works that way until the odds catch up with you.

Heard a guy at the supply house swear he never wet cures his driveways and hasn't had a crack bigger than a hairline in twenty years. Made me feel better about skipping it myself. But then my buddy who actually does the science part said that most hairline cracks just get filled with dust and you don't notice them until the second or third winter when water gets in and makes them worse. So maybe that stat is talking about real cracks versus just tiny surface stuff. I still don't wet cure much but I do try to keep the forms damp on hot days now.
