Saw a crew pouring a driveway in Phoenix last month and their edge trick stuck with me
I was down in Phoenix visiting my brother last month and drove past a crew pouring a driveway in that 105 degree heat. What caught my eye was the finisher working the edge with a piece of wood float he had cut down to about 8 inches long instead of a full float. He told me it keeps him from digging into the fresh mud when he is right up against the form. I tried the same thing on a 12 by 20 slab back home in Flagstaff and it made a big difference on my edges. Curious if any of you cut down your floats like that or if there is a better trick for tight edge work.
