Got a weird patch of concrete to set up fast on a sloped driveway job

Had to pour a small repair section on a steep driveway in Cincinnati yesterday, and the mix was setting up way too quick in the sun. Instead of just spraying more water, I grabbed a bag of ice from the gas station and mixed a handful right into the wheelbarrow with the concrete. It bought me maybe 15 extra minutes of work time without messing with the water ratio. Some guys on the crew said it was a dumb hack, others thought it was smart. Has anyone else tried something like this on a hot day pour?

Honestly, is it that big of a deal? It's just a small patch, not a bridge deck. If the ice got you the time you needed and it sets fine, who cares what the crew thinks.

So @james533, did the ice mess with the final cure at all?

Yeah, did you let it sit a bit longer before the final cure?
