A finisher in Boise told me my edges were burning because I overworked them, so I changed one thing
A guy watching my crew pour a 40 by 60 slab in Boise pointed at my magnesium float and said I was hitting the same edge 3 or 4 times too many. He said each pass brings up cream that sets faster than the rest of the slab, and that cream dries out and burns when the power trowel comes across it. I started counting my passes after that and limited myself to one pass along each edge, then let the big trowel do the rest. My edges came out cleaner on the next 3 jobs and I stopped getting those dark streaks about 6 inches in from the forms. Has anyone else been taught a set number of passes, or do you just go by feel?
