Honestly sounds like the library tech failing was the best thing that could have happened to you. Remote tools are a crutch, and when they break you actually have to talk to people face to face or dig through physical books. Maybe that forced you to slow down and think instead of just clicking around. I bet you found way better info the old school way than you ever did on those flaky apps anyway.

Saw a piece about libraries adopting mesh networks after outages like this, @fox.jesse makes a fair point though.
