Spent $40 on a magnetic parts tray and it's the best thing I've added to my bench in years.

Forty bucks for a metal dish with a magnet seems crazy to me. A cheap plastic tray or even an old coffee can lid does the exact same job for basically free. That's money better spent on actual tools or parts. The magnet thing is just a gimmick that drives up the price for no real gain. Can't see how a glorified paperweight makes that much difference on the bench.

Honestly, the magnet is a lifesaver for tiny screws and washers. Tried a plastic lid once and dumped a dozen M3 screws into a pile of metal shavings. Took forever to sort out. The dish keeps everything stuck in one spot, even if you bump the bench.

That bench bump thing is a bigger issue than people admit. Reminds me of how we spend on kitchen magnets for knife strips (stops the clatter) but balk at the same logic for workshop gear.
