Nailed a tricky BIOS update without bricking the system, phew

Always stressful, but it went perfectly this time.

Always do it with the power connected to a good UPS. My only rule is a full backup and a printed checklist before touching anything.

Isn't a UPS still live? Not safe for hands-on.

Wait, but doesn't that leave the whole system energized? A UPS is just a big battery, so the power supply and motherboard are still getting power. How is that safe for swapping parts? I always unplug from the wall and hit the power button to drain any leftover charge. Your rule seems to ignore the basic shock risk.
