Warning: that big warehouse job in Phoenix made me ditch my old drain cam
I used to swear by the cheap snake camera for everything, but three months ago I hit a 400 foot main line at a distribution center near the airport. The picture was so blurry I called a grease clog, turned out to be a collapsed clay pipe that cost the client an extra $7,000 in emergency dig fees. My foreman said my report looked like a potato took it, so I finally rented a newer model with a self leveling head for the next job. That thing caught a root intrusion at 250 feet clear as day, and we fixed it in one visit instead of two. Now I tell every apprentice to spend the extra money upfront, the cheaper tool will lie to you when you need it most. Has anyone else had a camera setup that missed something big, or am I the only one who learned this the hard way?
