Took 3 months to solve a backflow issue in a Phoenix strip mall

We kept getting called back to this frozen yogurt shop because their backflow preventer was failing inspection every single time. Replaced the valves, checked the pressure, even swapped the whole unit once. Nothing worked. Turns out the city water main upstream had a pressure spike issue that only showed up between 2 and 4 AM. Had to install a second pressure reducer before the unit. Three months of back and forth for a 30 minute fix once we figured it out. Has anyone else had a weird intermittent pressure problem that took forever to trace?

Did you bother checking the city side before you swapped out the whole unit, or was that just the last thing you tried? Curious if your city utility was any help or if they just blew you off like they do around here. Seems like that kind of data logging would have caught the pattern way sooner.
