Spent 6 hours chasing a leak in a 4 inch main at the Riverside job, was it the fernco or the old cast iron?
Got called out to a restaurant on 3rd Street because water was pooling in the back hall, and I figured it was just a loose fernco on the 4 inch main, an easy fix. Turns out the cast iron was cracked about 10 feet down the run and I burned almost 6 hours with a camera and a jackhammer before I found it. Part of me says I should have just cameraed the whole line from the start, the other part says that is a waste of time on a Tuesday call. Where do you all draw the line between chasing the obvious fix and just opening up the whole line?
