Shoutout to the plumber who saved me from a $500 mistake
I was roughing in a bathroom group at a new office building in downtown Phoenix last week. Got all the drains mocked up and was about to pour the slab when a older plumber walked by. He pointed out I had the vent pipe too close to a support column, said it would have been a nightmare to fix later. I moved it six inches over and it only cost me an hour of work. Anyone else have a guy like that who just happens to roll through and catch stuff before it becomes a big problem?

My buddy had a guy walk through his job site back when he was drywalling in Tempe... caught that he was about to frame right over a gas line that wasn't even marked on the plans. Would've been a real bad day if he'd sunk a screw in there.

Man, that's the kind of thing that keeps you up at night! @victorcoleman your buddy dodged a serious bullet there. I've seen more than a few close calls with unmarked utilities over the years too, and it's always the stuff that's not on the prints that gets you. Gas lines especially, because one wrong screw and you're not just fixing a hole, you're calling the fire department and evacuating the whole block. Always pays to have someone with a sharp eye walk through before you hang any board.
