Shoutout to the maintenance guy who showed me why we stopped descaling the coffee machine lines
The coffee shop on 8th had a commercial plumber come out twice a month for scale buildup in their espresso line, and it cost them $280 a pop. Last March the maintenance guy put in a $40 inline water filter before the machine, and they haven't needed a descale since July. The water hardness in that building was around 12 grains, so the filter was doing all the heavy lifting. Now I'm wondering if any of you have put a softener on a kitchen line instead of just filtering it, and did it actually keep the scale down?
