I finally looked up the water pressure code for a new strip mall job

I was reading the local building code for a project in Riverside and saw that commercial kitchens need a minimum of 80 PSI at the fixture, which is way higher than I thought. My supplier said it's to handle multiple appliances running at once without a drop. Has anyone else had to upgrade a whole main line just to meet that spec?

Eighty PSI at the fixture is a lot of force... I saw a guy blow a hose clean off a sink bib at half that pressure. Upgrading a whole main line for one strip mall must have cost a fortune in materials alone. I can't imagine the trenching work through that parking lot.

We had to bump a line up to 1.25 inch for a burger place last year... my boss still calls it the "milkshake main" because the budget got absolutely blended. The final pressure test was just me praying nothing blew.
