I chose copper over PEX for a 40-unit retrofit and I'd do it again

Everyone in our shop swears by PEX for speed, but I took the extra week on this job in Dayton and ran copper. The building manager told me 'nobody does that anymore', but after three freezing snaps last winter, zero callbacks on my lines. Has anyone else stuck with copper for larger jobs and regretted it or not?

Man, that's the truth. I did a 60-unit complex a few years back and took the heat for running copper too. The crew grumbled about the extra time, but we had zero issues during that brutal cold snap while the PEX lines in the next building over were bursting left and right. Copper just holds up better when you've got idiots cranking the heat and leaving windows open. I'd take the slower install every time if it means I'm not getting calls at 2 AM about a flood.
